This is our Diary page and is intended for those who take an interest in the construction and operation of the Perrygrove railway. If all you want are details of our public operations please go to our Home page or our Details page.

We don't publish pictures here very often. Most of the work we do on the railway is not very photogenic and our hands are usually too dirty to handle a camera.

For public operating days please click here.

Track work in Weatherall loop
8 and 9 August 2006 - We try to carry out track maintenance when the railway is not operating but occasionally something turns up that we simply cannot defer. The curve shown in these pictures has been giving problems for a while and this week we decided that it couldn't wait for attention until the autumn. It has now been raised to level a dip, a twist has been corrected, the super-elevation has been adjusted, and 4 tons of new ballast have been added to give it a decent shoulder for the first time since it was laid 10 years ago by contractors who skimped on the job. 1 August 2006 - our tenth anniversary of operating public trains! No pictures, no celebrations, just another entry in the diary.
24 July 2006 - The wheels on James Waterfield's Duffield Bank Dining Carriage were not the right pattern - but they are right for the Ducal saloon - the Eaton Hall Saloon carriage which James is conserving for the Heywood Collection. Therefore a swap was called for. New wheels were cast for the Dining Carriage and the old wheels have been donated to the Ducal Saloon. Notice the hard hat, worn as a magical talisman to protect the wearer against the Elfinsayftee goblins who are known to frequent railway premises.
