LOCAL RAILWAYS

• Dean Forest Railway - an important standard gauge preserved railway near to us.
• Great Western Railway museum - in our nearest town, Coleford (not open very often but is worth a visit).
• Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway - standard gauge, in the Cotswolds.
• Alan Keef Ltd. have an open day each year which is very popular with those who like narrow gauge railways.

• Bressingham Gardens, Norfolk This is the best website I have found for this line
• Bure Valley Railway - the second-longest 15" gauge railway in the U.K.
• Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway- a 15" gauge line in Lincolnshire which is getting better and better
• Eaton Hall Railway - quite astonishing that after all these years there should be this recreation of the ultimate Estate Railway. It does not have a website of its own so far as I know, but this link should tell you most of what you need to know.
• Evesham Vale Light Railway - a delightful line which is well worth seeing.
• Kirklees Light Railway - the only 15" gauge public line in the UK with a genuine tunnel
• Lappa Valley Railway - A beautiful ride to a great place for a family day out
• Longleat Railway - has an excellent main station and a lakeside ride
• Markeaton Park, Derby - offers a useful transport facility as well as attractive trains
• Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway - a great favourite of ours because of its history, its magnificent scenery, and the people who run it.
• Rhyl Miniature Railway - a historic 15" gauge line which should be included on any trip near the North Wales coast.
• Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway - the longest 15" gauge railway in the world with over 13 miles of route across Romney Marsh in Kent, mostly double track.
• Sherwood Forest Steam Railway - a lovely little line near Mansfield.
• The Windmill Farm Railway has a large collection of engines and rolling stock - the only website I can find at present is: here.
